牵手金陵—中国国际物流会议于2008年11月19日,在南京国际博览中心隆重开幕。此次会议由中国国际贸易促进委员会、中国国际人才交流基金会以及美国运输物流协会联合主办。这是自2007中美物流会议成功举办以来,由中美专业机构联合发起的又一次国际物流盛会。会议继续得到了中美两国商务部和交通运输部的大力支持。来自美国、加拿大和欧洲国家的近100名外宾和300余名国内嘉宾参加了会议。

在为期两天的会议上,与会代表围绕当前物流行业的热点问题进行了广泛交流和深入探讨。中美两国商务部代表就进一步开放国内物流市场、加强国际合作提出了他们的观点。当前,全球经济形势严峻,中国经济要保持稳步增长需要强大的内需拉动。国内市场重要性的提升使生产和制造企业越来越关注中国国内物流配送体系的建设。UPS等全球百强企业高层就如何在国内物流配送环节降低成本、提高运行效率提出了他们的观点。会议还特别邀请了麦肯锡公司资深合伙人就美国当前经济形势及其对物流行业的影响作案例阐述。

新的交通运输部成立后,中美两国运输部就危险品运输领域的合作数次交换意见。美国运输与物流协会特邀美国运输部危险品事务管理署高级代表来华,在会议期间主持危险品运输圆桌论坛。陶氏化学等全球五百强企业共同推介危险品运输国际规范和美国在该领域的成功经验,深入探讨中美在该领域的合作空间。美国运输与物流协会已得到美国运输部的正式支持,在中国设立以危险品运输安全培训为核心的中美运输安全研究所,会议宣布了这一项目的启动。

食品安全越来越被广泛关注,优质的冷链物流服务是提高食品安全性的重要保障。冷链物流议题中,奥运会食品物流服务供应商夏晖物流、开利冷藏公司、麦德龙、全球冷链联盟等机构专题介绍了国际最新的冷链物流设备和冷链物流管理技术。 中国-欧亚物流合作随着中国西部地区的开发日渐重要,国际道路运输联盟的资深代表和爱沙尼亚物流协会等国家的专业机构围绕中国与欧亚国家在货运经营中如何通过物流模式创新来提高速度、降低成本、增强安全性等问题同与会嘉宾进行了深入探讨。

物流专业人士的紧缺已成为行业发展的最大挑战之一。会议期间,中美专业机构、院校、企业就实用性及国际化物流人才的培养进行了全面探讨。作为中美物流合作的重要组成部分,美国商务部首次为美国运输与物流协会专项拨款为中国研发特定物流培训项目。

China World Logistics Conference was successfully held at Nanjing International Expo Center on Nov, 19 2008. It was co-organized by CCPIT (China Council for the Promotion and International Trade), CITEF (China International Talent Exchange Foundation) and AST&L (American Society of Transportation and Logistics) and gained continuous support from China Ministry of Commerce (MOC), China Ministry of Transport (MOT), US Department of Commerce (DOC), and US Department of Transportation (DOT). About 300 domestic representatives and 100 overseas representatives who came from North American and European countries attended the conference.

Attendees had deep discussions on hot topics and current issues concerning logistics industry during the two-days conference. Representatives from China Ministry of Commerce and the US Department of Commerce gave their insights about the further opening of China domestic logistics market and strengthen international cooperation. Representatives from McKinsey & Co. provided the presentation about the current US economic situation and its effects on logistics.

After the mega Ministry of Transport was founded in China, China MOT and US DOT had exchanged their ideas about the cooperation in dangerous goods transportation many times. AST&L specially invited senior officials from Office of International Standards, Office of Hazardous Materials Safety, US DOT and hosted the dangerous goods transportation roundtable discussion during the conference. DOW Chemicals and other Top 500 enterprises introduced the international regulation of dangerous goods transportation and American experience in this field. Representatives also discussed further Hazmat cooperation opportunities between China and US. The conference announced that AST&L got official support from US DOT to set up a Sino- American Transportation Safety Research Institute which focus on Hazmat transportation safety training.

Foods safety has been paid more and more attention and a high quality cold chain logistics service is very important for promoting foods safety. In the cold chain topic, HAVI Logistics (provider of the Olympics Game foods logistics service), Carrier Transicold China, Metro Group Logistics China, Global Cold Chain Alliance provided the latest cold chain logistics equipments and cold chain logistics management technology around the world.

China – Eurasia logistics cooperation is growing in importance as the push to develop the western regions of China continues, senior representative from International Road Transport Union and Estonian Logistics Association and professional organizations from other countries deeply discussed about how to increase speed, cost cutting, advance the safety and so on in freight operation through logistics model innovation.

The shortage of logistics professional has become the biggest challenge in the industry. During the conference, China and US professional organizations, institutes and companies fully discussed the training of practical and international logistics talents. US DOC granted special funds to AST&L for logistics training program development in China, which is also considered as an important part of Sino- American logistics cooperation.
